First Class Floor Cleaning and More uses professional strength solutions as well as high pressure water jets to clean away the dirt in addition to soil from grout lines.

When tile surfaces get filthy, it’s often the grout lines that are most noticeable. First Class Floor Cleaning and More provides professional services which are designed to deep clean grout lines and keep them from getting dirty again. Having said that, it is crucial to know in case your grout is “sanded” or “non-sanded”.

Most tile is grouted using sanded grout line. Sanded grout is very porous; when dirty water builds in sanded grout lines, the water dries out leaving behind dirty grout. If the tile was not sealed initially, or over time the sealant wears off, you’ll have dirty grout.[wc_divider style=”solid” line=”single” margin_top=”” margin_bottom=””]

Tile is pretty, durable, and often an easy task to clean, yet cleaning grout? That’s a different story.

Simply because of its (typically) light coloring and spongy composition, grout is prone to stain. In a tiled entrance or mudroom, grime and dirt are the common culprits, while in the kitchen, spills will most likely blame. A cleaning agent, mould, and mildew meanwhile make it a challenge to retain clean grout in bathrooms.

Luckily, cleaning grout line efficiently can be done only using regular household items and a bit of elbow grease.[wc_divider style=”solid” line=”single” margin_top=”” margin_bottom=””]

In many highin homes in the East Keansburg area, granite is used on floors, bathroom tiles, countertops, also in some instances on the walls, to give that palatial touch. However, to maintain its look, granite should be cleaned and polished regularly.

The cleaning of granite with its intricate, veined appearance, should be left to professional First Class Floor Cleaning and More. True, you could rent cleaning and polishing equipment to be used on granite, but this type of equipment, in particular when obtained from rental companies could be unreliable and sometimes dangerous to those lacking appropriate training. Granite Maintenance Polishing East Keansburg

tile and Grout Cleaning Prices East Keansburg NJGranite won’t have an acid sensitivity as the calcareous stones similar to marble, sandstone and travertine have. We oftentimes still use alkaline cleaning product on granite because of the fact that alkaline cleaners emulsify dirt much better than acids. If the granite floor has a sanded grout component, we often will clean the tile with an alkaline solution and after that follow up with a second step-in the cleaning process.

We’re going to use an acid to clean the grout when it is deemed safe and essential to get stains within the grout to release. We then use an industry accepted spinning tool which provides pressure coupled with vacuum for extraction. This method also removes dirt from the top of your grout lines. This is the industry recommended method to clean natural stone and tile floors.

Granite floors require a maintenance plan to have them looking as good as possible. This will likely consist of dry dust mopping daily using a clean rayon mop or static pad. Vacuuming with a hard-surface vacuum will also work. This is to eliminate the dirt and debris that builds on your floor because of foot traffic, family pets and so forth.

It is important to remove this dirt due to the fact that wet mopping is typically required at the very least weekly. If the debris and dirt that builds up is allowed to remain on the floor, when damp mopping occurs, that dirt is turned to mud and is forced into the grout lines by the mop. This makes your grout lines dirty very fast. When damp mopping with soap, rinsing will be required. After mopping with any soap solution, use a different rinse mop, and go over the area over again with clean water.

While these floors do not need a similar care from abrasion and etching as a marble, travertine or limestone floor, they actually need to be polished now and again. It is important to follow the rinsing techniques explained above because when a soap film builds up on granite, it cuts down on the polished appearance, and can make it look dull. That dullness is removed with proper cleaning. For that reason, we recommend cleaning your East Keansburg granite floors yearly.[wc_divider style=”solid” line=”single” margin_top=”” margin_bottom=””]

Most surfaces have not been properly sealed, if at all. Hard surfaces that might be un-sealed or are sealed with low quality sealants are a sponge for oil, food or beverage spills, that may lead to long-lasting staining.

Proper sealing can and will result in much easier care. This will protect your hard-surface investments, allowing you to take better care of them, while adding up beauty and value to your home.

Did you know?

  • Vinegar and ammonia may damage nearly all sealers?
  • Most building contractors do not seal the surfaces they install?
  • Lots of floor cleaning products leave a residue which could inhibit sealants and attract soil faster?

In this fact filled consumer’s message you will learn how to effectively maintain your hard surfaces.
So, let’s begin!

[wc_divider style=”solid” line=”single” margin_top=”” margin_bottom=””]

HARD-SURFACE STAIN PROTECTION AND REPELLENCY TESTS

Here is a simple water based stain protection test that can be done in your own home:

  1. Take a spoonful of water and pour it on the hard surface you wish to analyze, including any grout
  2. Wait about 15 minutes
  3. Visual Examination: Did the water absorb? Does the color change?
  4. By using a clean white absorbent cloth, ‘dab’ the excess moisture.
  5. Touch Test: Does the tile or grout feel moist? Does moisture still sense evident?

When you answered yes in regards to any of these questions, your hard surfaces are not sealed correctly as well as are vulnerable to staining. Call us to talk about proper sealing applications.

A good number contractors do not seal off the tiles they install designed for a variety of reasons. The primary reason is that it can’t be done until at a minimum of three days following installation, which means they’d have to return back. A good number tile contractors do not provide a protection service so they don’t even inform consumers of the benefits of this process. Yet, the advantages of sealing are obvious. There are a number of sealers available to the general public through hardware retail stores, etc.

However, they are inferior to sealers that a hard-surface professional would likely use. Some need repeating application, several are too easily ‘washed’ off by general care products, as well as some only protect against water based stains, leaving your floor vulnerable.

And maybe even when you utilize the best sealants available, without a solid understanding of the products and the type of surface floor you are sealing, you still won’t have a properly sealed floor. Only specific training along with years of experience can give you the skills required to obtain highest possible protection for your hard-surfaces.

Sealed surfaces don’t allow penetration of fuilds that can become long-lasting. Preserve your hard surfaces today for a fraction of the cost of replacement. You won’t be sorry![wc_divider style=”solid” line=”single” margin_top=”” margin_bottom=””]

Answers to Frequently Asked Questions Regarding Cleaning Hard-Surfaces

[wc_box color=”inverse” text_align=”left”]Q: I have been told that bleaching the grout lines will make them look whiter? Is this fact true?
A: Bleach will make them brighter, however you may need to consult with the grout manufacturer prior to starting, to ensure the color wasn’t dyed, or bleach will actually take off the color.

Q: I have what looks like water stains on the tiles in my kitchen, what should they be and also just how can I take them off?
A: So called “water” stains could be a number of different things, based on the particular tile you have. Most of the time, water or mineral can be removed whether with polishing with honing powders and a hog hair pad or utilizing specific acid cleaners. Please DO NOT attempt either of these without proper training, as you may permanently damage the tile. To get rid of these stains it may be essential to talk to a professional.

Q: I bought a ‘steamer’ to clean my tile and grout floors with. It truly does work pretty well, but some of the grout lines are cracking? What should I do?
A: First, stop all ‘steaming’ til you have the grout line fixed. Humidity that will get between the tile as well as subfloor will be caught under your ceramic tile and will expand and loosen tile floor from the concrete or subfloor. Rinsing the floor is an effective thing, BUT, you really need the right products to make sure you are not damaging the sealer.

Q: How long will sealers last?
A: That will depend on the sealant, the technique of application, and the frequency and type of maintenance. Your sealer may last any where from six months to ten years and also over.[/wc_box]

Here are some Spot Removal Techniques The Professionals Use In Their Homes East Keansburg NJ

Dry Soil – Hard surfaces should be cleaned regularly with just warm water and a clean, non-abrasive cloth, sponge or a mop. Neutral cleaners needs to be used all of which will help remove soils that regular mopping and dusting leave behind.

Liquid Spills – Lightly blot any excess liquid with a clean, dry, white cloth. As the cloth gets saturated be sure to flip frequently. If color from your liquid remains evident, lightly mist neutral solution to the floor, let 5 minutes dwell time, next wipe in a circular motion with a clean dry cloth. Repeat as necessary. Rinse with water and towel dry.

Food Spills – Scoop up excess foodstuffs from your floor. Then blot excess liquid residues left by the food. Using a damp white cloth, dab or lightly wipe the floor in a circular motion. Spray neutral cleaner lightly and avoid overwetting, let it dwell five minutes, and wipe dry using a dry white cloth. Rinse with water and towel dry.

Oily Stains/Spots – Blot up the excess. Spray with neutral cleaner, cover with 2-4 dry paper towels, apply some weight (books work effectively), and let a dwell time of a half-hour. Lift the weight and check out the paper towels. If all the towels are damp with stain and solution, the process is working. If no dampness has took place, apply more neutral solution to the stain, let it sit 15 minutes, then check again. Wipe dry with a clean white cloth; if the stain is not removed, consult the Central Jersey Hard Surface cleaning professionals at First Class Floor Cleaning and More.

Mud and Clay – Let mud or clay dry completely. Vacuum. Remove dried mud excess using a soft nylon brush, or lightly with an old toothbrush. Spray the remaining with neutral solution, and wipe clean using a clean white cloth. If grout lines are still affected, apply small amounts of clear, sugar-free club soda and let it sit one minute, then wipe dry.

Acidic Spills – Liquids and substances for example soft drinks, coffee, animal urine, vomit, vinegar, orange juice, wine, or mustard are highly acidic. If not removed in an urgent manner these might etch some surfaces. In the case of an acidic spillage or accident, follow the the most appropriate spot removal procedure described previously. Do’s And Don’ts On Indoor Hard Surface Maintenance

Do’s

  • Do a daily ‘damp mop.’ Use a dry non-treated dust mop. It is the unseen dirt and grit that damages hard surfaces. Prevention is the best fix.
  • Do keep off floors until dry, wet floors could be slippery.
  • Do everything possible to prevent accidents with perfumes, toothpaste, and makeup. These often have harmful ingredients which may weaken your sealer.
  • Do all you can to prevent over-spraying of aerosols in areas with protected hard-surfaces. Air fresheners, bug sprays and other surface cleaners can settle on your floors and leave a residue making cleaning a much bigger chore. Be careful when using furniture polish sprays, as some could make the floor too slippery for safety.
  • Do consult your cleaning professionals at First class floor cleaning and more about our care and maintenance plans.

Don’ts

  • Don’t apply vinegar, bleach, or ammonia for cleaning.
  • Don’t apply abrasive products for example dry or wet compound cleansers, or tub and tile cleaners.
  • Don’t use store bought citrus based (lemon or orange) solvent cleaners.
  • Don’t drag furniture across hard surfaces. As well avoid dropping large elements on hard-surfaces.
  • Don’t scrub hard surfaces. If properly sealed, gentle duty cleaning is all that should be necessary.
  • Don’t attempt to re-color grout lines. There are professional applications that can restore your grout to new-looking color. In fact, any shade of the rainbow can be chosen.
  • Don’t over wet floors when cleaning, and always remove excess water. Fresh air can help enhance dry times.
  • Don’t break your back trying to get those floors looking the best they may be. Check with your floor care company for advice or a free written price quote.
